Infrared countermeasure station BNT is intended for active protection of helicopters and turboprop engine airplanes against guided missiles equipped with infrared homing heads. The majority of known such stations basically suppress infrared homing heads with amplitude-phase modulation (APM). Its interfering signal should exceed a signal from the engine nozzle in 1,5÷2 times, and in some cases up to 20 times. BNT station is capable to suppress infrared homing heads with CCM function for other types of modulation: frequency-phase modulation (FPM) and pulse-length modulation (PLM). This allows of full lock-on failure for such guided missiles, as “Stinger”, “Igla”, “Igla-1″, R-60М, R-73, “Sidewinder” and other.

The station provides the withdrawal of the guided missiles from the flight trajectory to the purpose with subsequent derangement of accompaniment due to the gradually increasing error of aiming in the contour of missile control. The station does not require information about type and frequency parameters of missile homing head modulation and works without missile warning system. For protection efficiency improvement special screens, engine exhaust shields and (or) dispensers for ejecting flares from aircrafts and helicopters (including flare dispenser BNT-D) are used in addition to BNT station.

IRCM BNT station is designed for installing on An-26, An-32 airplanes, Mil type helicopters as well as helicopters and turboprop airplanes of other manufacturers and their modifications. Two BNT stations in special containers jointly with dispensers for ejecting flares from aircrafts and helicopters are installed on airplane.
